I love meditation. I don’t think it’s the kind of practice you’re “supposed” to love, because it’s a practice of detachment, but I do.
I love the process of coming into the steadiness of an easy seat. I love the feeling of watching my attention shift from thinking through my actions, to noticing actions, to being in my actions. I love watching even the actions of getting into meditation fall away. I love the feeling of being in it, knowing that, knowing I could come out at any time, but not wanting to. I love the feeling of not wanting to.
Not every time I sit for meditation is like this, by far, but it’s what reminds me to come back when I just don’t feel like being still. It’s what reminds me that for a few infinite moments, every day can hold that feeling of vacation – no obligations, no rules, no shoulds, just me and a space of my own making.
And that’s my daily yoga how: how I love meditation.
